New ART jOurNal!!

Hey art friends! As many of you have already heard and watched, Teesha Moore added some amazing and inspiring how to journal videos on her blog!! I was soooo inspired to create one of these art journals...actually my very first ART JOURNAL! I have challenged myself to stick to her steps for this process...and to not think about it forever! I am soo use to sitting and staring at something and playing until I like it...it was a bit of a challenge to "just do it". I started out making the journal out of the water color paper and did not use the flaps. I ended up just doing a journal of 10 pages...I thought this would be good for me. When I went to paint the pages..I actually forgot to use watercolors and used acrylics...I probably wont do that again! Watercolors would have been soo much easier but I had gotten ahead of myself and painted in acrylics. I have "finished" 4 pages but they just need journaling added to them. I am waiting on teeshas next videos to do this last step...here are pics of my 4 pages without the journaling...

A New Art Challenge and swap...{sign up in this posting w/emails}

Hey guys...I think it would be soo fun to try out this technique that I just posted...Magazine Reduction Collage...as a challenge and swap... then we can all trade prints of our collages...I vote for digital collages but prints thru snail mail would work for me too if you are not able to swap this way...If you are interested in playing in this challenge please sign up for this challenge here in the comments! I think we need to set a deadline for this...please only serious committed players...I hate holding up swaps! We will make this due a month from now...to give everyone time to play and experiment...make prints and swap! Please also post when you sign up your email address so people can send the digital collage... The deadline for this will be October 26th! Sign ups will close October 19.
How ever many players we have that is how many "prints" you will send digital or through snail mail...You will just send to the players themselves. If you are not doing digital then please have a address posted. Now lets play!

Magazine Reduction Collage Instrucions...

Hey guys...sorry I meant to post right away but something came up...here they are! Enjoy!! I would love to see how all of your collages turn out! Maybe we could all trade?

Magazine Reduction Collage

3 magazine pages
glue stick
sandpaper
a knife to cut, scratch, or tear
stamps
brillance stamp pads
dye or pigment inks
collage bits and pieces

Glue 3 magazine pages together. No worries about the images or text. Use a knife to cut, scratch, and tear pieces of the page away. Try not to go through the last layer. Sand the paper smooth but not so smooth that it takes the image or texture away. Use rubber art stamps on the collage. Scan it into your computer and use it for your wallpaper on your computer screen, collages, or share...

A new magazine reduction piece...

Hey art friends...since posting my last magazine piece...I have learned that the technique that I had gotten from an art friend was actually made by vivian young mcdonald...she is so great! She has since sent me the directions..which are just soo easy and this was my first "real" magazine reduction piece...it scanned actually greener than in person...not sure why, its actually more turqoise and blues... anyway for those who are wondering how to do this..I am now going post again with the directions and her piece that she created that I love!!
